Many of us have experienced the loss of someone beloved to us, of those close to us. We are angry about it. Resentful. Helpless. Anxious. Fearful. With our emotional equilibrium thrown off, we are left to feel confused, alone, and often numb.
Music has the power to evoke strong emotions and can therefore be extremely healing. It can validate and acknowledge our pain and take us past the numbness to truly feel. Through this we can once again feel true connection, attachment, and love to and from others.
“Yesterday Again” is a ballad reflecting on the experience of losing a loved one. It validates and allows for the broken heart, the searching soul, the vulnerability of pain, and takes its listeners on a cathartic journey. Within “Yesterday Again” is grief, pain, yearning and, most paramount, the longing for both meaning and connection.

Sarah Dukes, a Chabad mother of 6, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and is an award-winning composer.
