Just Before The Album: Avrumi Releases Powerful Pop Single “Vay Lon”
Just before the launch of his new album—set for release in the coming weeks Iy’H, Avrumi Weinberg releases the album’s title track, “Vay Lon.” This is the second single from the album, following the impactful “Kabetz Kabetz.” It offers a deep, unique connection to traditional sources, featuring a melody composed by Avrumi and polished production by the duo Eli Klein and Yitzy Berry.
The song draws upon a story from the Talmud (Berachot 31): During the wedding celebration of Ravina’s son, the Sages asked Rav Hamnuna Zuti to sing. He responded with the poignant words “Vay lon demitnan” (“Woe to us, for we shall die”), offering the sole answer and comfort: “Where is the Torah and where are the commandments that will shield us?” This stirring text is given a modern, fiery arrangement that heightens anticipation for the full album.
