Gad Elbaz – Achashverosh

Gad Elbaz – Achashverosh

In a joyous explosion of color and song, Gad Elbaz brings the story of Purim to life in Achashverosh, a musical romp that is sure to delight viewers of all ages. Alternating between the reading of Megillas Esther in a Sefardi beit knesset and a journey down the streets of Jerusalem, Achasverosh channels the magic of the happiest day of the year as Elbaz decks out waving children in costumes with a flick of his mystical wand. Smiles are everywhere, as some find themselves attired as characters in the Purim story, while a few are transformed into pint-sized versions of well-known Jewish music stars.

A SparksNext production, Achashverosh features lyrics and music by Cecelia Margules. Given the ongoing war in Ukraine and other recent stressors, producer Daniel Finkelman said that he hopes that the video’s high energy and palpable euphoria will be a breath of fresh air for viewers.
“In these crazy times we need some joy,” said Finkelman. “Achashverosh is all about getting people into the spirit of Purim.”
