TYH Nation Presents: Kol Bayaar | Alex Clare & Levy Falkowitz
Tradition has it that this niggun originated with the Shpoler Zeide, one of the great early Chassidic Rebbes, who would sing this upon waking up at midnight to mourn over the Beis Hamikdosh.
The song depicts the Father searching for his lost children in the “forest” of the world and pleading for their return to back to Him, while the children explain they cannot return due to a “guard” blocking the way. The “guard” is often interpreted as the obstacles of the physical world or negative spiritual forces.
What’s stopping you? Identifying it is already half the journey home.
