The Nigun That Broke The Internet Before It Was Released: Achia Cohen In A Moving Single-Video In Memory of Avi Piamenta

A year after the passing of the legendary musician and flutist Avi Piamenta a’h, arranger and composer Achia Cohen presents a new and sweeping work: “Nigun Avraham.” The Nigun, which burst forth from a deep longing on the Shabbat evening when the bitter news arrived, was composed inspired by Avi‘s groundbreaking music. It is an exciting closing of a circle for Achia, who previously released “Yosef Nigun” in memory of Yossi Piamenta, and now completes the mosaic with a soulful Nigun that is being released close to and seemingly on Avi‘s Yahrzeit on the 8th of Tammuz.

Behind the video stands an extraordinary viral story. The third part of the song, characterized by challenging musical complexity, became an Internet challenge even before the song was officially recorded. Achia shared it with his followers and invited them to perform the complex section, And the responses flooded the system: hundreds of requests from musicians requesting sheet music, spontaneous performances that began to be played at weddings, and dozens of videos from musicians from all over the world who sent in their performances. From hundreds of requests, dozens of videos were carefully selected and incorporated into the official music video, making the work a living and moving tribute to my father’s special spirit.
