MATANA – Simcha Leiner (Official Music Video) Yeshivat Reishit
A Really Good Gift
In honor of the 25th anniversary of Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim, be uplifted by Matana, a soulful composition straight from the inspired neshama of one of our very own Shana Bet talmidim, who, with the help of friends, shepherded the accompanying video from dream to completion.
Produced by the very talented Yochi Briskman, sung by the incomparable Simcha Leiner, and filmed by Shimmy Socol, Matana both taps into and depicts the living spirit of the culmination of each week of learning and growing at Yeshiva, both in Beit Shemesh and Yerushalayim.
The words of Matana are especially meaningful to us, as they come straight from the masechta (Shabbos 10b) we’ve been learning this year in Yeshiva, and powerfully convey the precious gift of Shabbos. The beautiful melody brings the Gemara’s words to life – highlighting not only the holiness of the seventh day but also its embodiment of Hashem’s immeasurable love for us and our profound longing for His closeness which reaches into the realm beyond words. Our deepest appreciation to all of our special friends and family whose generosity and vision helped bring this classic tribute to Shabbos into reality.
