Yosef Karduner releases breathtaking acapella version of ”Shir Hamalos”
Yosef Karduner is one of the leading artists of Jewish music. Fifteen years ago he released his debut album “Simanim Baderech” which included the hit song “Shir Hamaalos”, the rest is history. The song gained worldwide attention, requested all over the world and was followed by a unprecedented number of covers from artists across the spectrum.
Despite his modesty and very few performances, his resume is impressive. Over the years, he released 9 albums, mostly original songs included a special style, two with zemiros from Breslov of which Karduner is a chosid. One album with songs of shabbos zemiros which he was joined by Shuli Rand, and more also Shuli’s second album zemiros l’motzei shabbos.
More recently Karduner released a Kumzits album of live performances recorded from several gigs in NY over the last few years. Whats great about this CD is that you get some of that great live stuff that Yosef plays in kumzits’s that isn’t necessarily his own material. So if you’re expecting another Kumzits album of a singer performing his own stuff, think again.
Being that we are now during sefira, in which we avoid listening to music from instruments, Yosef releases a special version of his greatest hit of all time “Shir Haamalos” vocal version.
