Aaron Razel & Rabbi Shlomo Katz Unite: “V’Asu Li Mikdash”
Musician and songwriter Aaron Razel releases a new and inspiring single, in which he hosts his close friend, singer and Rabbi Shlomo Katz. The song, based on the seminal verse “V’Asu Li Mikdash Vishachanti Bisocham,” expresses the longing for a direct and unmediated connection with the Creator, especially in these difficult times for the Jewish people.
Aaron Razel says about the work:
“I could not help but compose one of the most moving verses I know; a verse that expresses the special connection between the Creator of the world and every Jew personally. HaShem does not seek to dwell ‘in the temple’ but ‘among them’ – within the heart of each and every one of us. This is the true depth of the Divine Presence.”
The tune was born years ago in the alleys of Tzfat, and as is the custom of tunes, it waited for the right moment to come out into the world. “I first recorded the song in honor of my eldest son’s wedding and it was kept in the family circle. Now, with the birth of my first grandchild, I felt the time had come to share it with everyone,” adds Razel.
Rabbi Shlomo Katz‘s hosting closes an exciting circle for the two. Almost twenty years ago, they released the album “Kashoshana” together of songs by Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach, and since then they have been looking for an opportunity to collaborate again. “I thank Rabbi Shlomo for connecting and adding such depth to the performance. The connection between us is natural and takes me back to years of joint creation.”
The song comes out at a time when the people of Israel are in days of heroism, faith and confidence, alongside staying in shelters and protected rooms. From this reality, the melody seeks to remind us of the eternity of Israel and the great story of our people – a story of the inspiration of the Divine Presence in every situation and place.
