A “Bereshit” Rhythm: Kobi Brummer Kicks Off the Year with “HaMe’orot HaGedolim”
Just after the High Holidays and coinciding with the start of the Bereshit, Kobi Brummer releases an upbeat, infectious swing single titled “HaMe’orot HaGedolim” (The Great Luminaries). Behind the song’s groove lies a message inspired by the moon: created equal to the sun, it was commanded to diminish in size, yet it always returns to fullness. Brummer applies this directly to real life. One doesn’t have to shine like the midday sun to cast light; some shine precisely from within the darkness—and even if your light feels small right now, it is still light.
The result is a high-energy, smile-inducing song that is impossible to ignore. The melody was composed by Brummer together with Eli Klein, while Klein and Yitzy Berry handled the production and swing arrangement.
