“Chonenu” Shimmy Lipshitz & Motty Vizel Renew Carlebach

“Chonenu” Shimmy Lipshitz & Motty Vizel Renew Carlebach

After “Keshoshana” which became a huge hit, Shimmy Lipshitz and Motty Vizel return with a powerful renewal of the melody of Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach “Chonenu“. The idea was born in the midst of Rosh Hashanah prayers in Uman at the “Nekuda Tova” minyan, when the cantor Rabbi Shimi Fried began to sing this melody on the words “Hayom Harat Olam”. The vibration in the heart and the new light that was revealed there led to an immediate connection between the two, who together create a song that is all about hope, prayer, and longing in the midst of exile, with a musical arrangement by Yanki Landau.

The song is accompanied by a historically invested music video produced by Hershey Segal, filmed in a unique Irish bar and incorporating amazing AI editing. The video embeds Shimmy and Motty within landmarks in the history of the Jewish people, through the pain and contempt we have endured throughout the generations, to the moment when God brings salvation.

Original composition and performance: Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach
Musical arrangement and production: Yanki Landau

Script, direction, editing, color and AI creation: Hershy Segal
