Without Instruments, With Lots of Longing: Sharon Avilachak & The Bachar Brothers In A Vocal Version In Memory of Their Brother

At the height of Yom Hazikaron and in the midst of the days of counting the Omer, musician and composer Sharon Avilachak releases a moving vocal performance of the song “Nish’ar Haga’agua” – the first song from his new project.

The performance is entrusted to the Becher brothers, who have collaborated with Avilachak in the past. The renewed connection between them this time is personal and unbearably painful: the song is dedicated to the memory of their brother, Yehuda Becher, who was murdered in the Simchat Torah massacre at the Nova party.

The choice of a vocal version without musical instruments was born out of a desire to convey the message in the most open and honest way. These days, when the people of Israel are in a fateful battle against Iran and its proxies, the words about the deep longing that never passes take on a double meaning, both as a family that has lost its most precious person, and as a people that deals with daily loss.

Sharon, who works as a DJ at events and celebrations, brings another side here, exposed and touching. The song reminds us that even as time passes, longing is an inseparable part of our lives here.
