THE CAVE

Alex Clare | AFIkoMAN

He walked out of the cave the first time and everything around him burned. His eyes—filled with truth too powerful for the world to handle. It was raw, it was real, but maybe too much. Hashem sent him back. Another twelve months. More time to dig deeper, to refine that fire. Because fire without control? It just burns. But fire with purpose? It lights up the darkness.

The second time he walked out, it was different. He didn’t just look at the world—he saw it. And instead of setting the land ablaze, he set our souls on fire. With every word of Torah, every deep teaching, he gave us light for the darkest nights. A light that doesn’t fade. A fire that never goes out.

Rabbi Shimon didn’t just teach Torah. He revealed the soul of Torah. He showed us that every struggle, every moment of pain in this long, winding galus, is just another step towards redemption. He taught us that the secrets of the Torah aren’t just for those on the highest of levels—they’re for every Yid trying to find their way in the dark.

“Fire, fire—set my soul on fire.” It’s more than just words. It’s the yearning of a people that know there’s more. That know there’s light, even when things are pitch black. Rabbi Shimon gave us that light. He showed us that even when the world burns, our souls can still shine.  That all of the darkness and void is actually full of Hashem, and one day, that fire will bring us all the way home.

This song is a tefilah. That the fire of Rabbi Shimon’s Torah keeps burning in our hearts, lighting up every shadow, pushing us through the galus, straight to the Geulah.
