YONI Z – LECHA DODI A CAPELLA VERSION [Official Audio]

It seems to be on brand with Yoni Z at this point—always surprising his audience with something fresh and unexpected from the singer/songwriter. And once again, he did not disappoint.

This time, Yoni tapped into his Chassidic roots and wrote an original ‘Lecha Dodi‘, which is being released first as an a cappella. This approach contrasts with the standard practice of a cappella songs often being cover versions of already recorded live music.

Yoni explains, “This winter, I had the privilege of being a mentor on the Shabbos Project, directed by Eli Stamler and Hertzi Muller. Throughout the winter, 17 boys who had taken upon themselves to start keeping Shabbos again, visited different communities across the tristate area. Together, we created beautiful memories that captured the essence of the holy day. These boys were my inspiration to write this song, and I hope the emotions I felt can be conveyed to the listener.”

Enjoy this brand new yet familiar Shabbos tune that is sure to keep playing on loop every Friday.

Composed by Yoni Z
Acapella arranged by Yonatan Stern
Vocals recorded, engineered at Jason Goldglancz studios, Woodmere NY

Lyrics:
