A Yeshivishe “Ma’oz Tzur” By 5 Top Singers

In honor of Chanuka, five leading artists have joined forces to present a brand-new tune for the words of ‘Maoz Tzur.’
We’ve all enjoyed Koby Greenbaum, Meir Gafni, Ruli Dickman, Motti Leichter and Yoni Berger’s performances at simchas, but in the past weeks, these five popular singers have been meeting in the Metro Studios in Bnei Brak to create a hit single. The album is being produced by Acheinu, a twenty-year-old kiruv organization that places teens in mosdos Torah throughout the country.

The brand-new tune for the age-old lyrics of Ma’oz Tzur was composed by Rabbi Dovid Hofstedter, Nasi of Acheinu, with musical arrangements by R’ Moshe Laufer. The Shira Chadasha Boys’ Choir, conducted by Rabbi Nachman Seltzer, adds classic, family-style Chanuka flavor to the song.

“This song was born last Chanuka with the feeling that this is a Yom Tov connecting Yidden to family and the nation; and this is the feeling that we’re trying to convey,” says an Acheinu spokesperson.

Acheinu assists teenage boys forging a new path in the world of Torah Judaism and grants them tools and resources to discover the beauty and truth therein. Hundreds of volunteers and workers nationwide facilitate this unique project, maintaining daily communication with the boys and learning regularly with them.
