Can I Burn? Special Panel With Rabbis & Artists of ACUM – Radio Kol Chai with Yossi Eisenthal – Full Interview + Photos + Video!
On the Radio Kol Chai program, Musical Motzei Shabbos, hosted by Yossi Eizental, a panel discussion was held with the participation of Rabbonim, composers, musical producers and other professional about the timely topic of burning and copying CDs.
The panel members included; Reb Chaim Banet, singers Shloime Cohen and Gad Elbaz, and Ran Sarid of Daberi Shir, representing the CD companies and their distributors. Other panel participants were Raz Shirzian and Yaniv Grady, on behalf of the musical composers and producers organization and Rabbi Menachem Menashe Weisfish, author of the Sefer Mishnat Z’chuyot Hayotzer (about protecting the artist’s/composer’s rights).
During the evening, they addressed the strict prohibition of burning, copying and downloading music and clarified both halachic and legal issues on this topic. Many of the panel participants said that these practices had caused them much damage and heavy financial losses. They fervently called upon Am Yisrael to STOP THIS PRACTICE.
As a highlight of the program, Yossi Eisenthal surprised the participants with the premier vocal only arrangement by Yoeli Dickman of a famous Yanni composition. This tune is now used as an opening for the program during Sefirah. When the program becomes a true chessed production connecting people who have something to give away to people that need these items. The items can be very small or larger items like refrigerators.
