[YW News] Lipa Joining Forces with Americare with New MusiCare Music Therapy Program
He has long been a fixture in hospitals and camps for special needs children, using his positive energy and unique talents to brighten the lives of others, but Lipa Schmeltzer has set his sights on yet another demographic, using music to bring simcha to the lives of the elderly. Joining forces with Americare, the leader in home healthcare, Lipa and Americare President and CEO Elly Kleinman are introducing MusiCare, an innovative music program which will allow the popular singer to use his gifts to lift the spirits of seniors in a music program.
“Lipa is spearheading MusiCare and will develop different methods and ideas on how to enhance each patient’s mood, as well as paving the way to recruit certified music therapists to work with dementia and Alzheimer’s patients in an effort to boost their cognitive stimulation,” said Kleinman.
Lipa noted that he is looking forward to this new endeavor and to working with the Kleinmans, who are well known baalei tzedaka.
“We hope that together with Lipa we can develop MusiCare into a full music therapy program, offering our patients tremendous advantages,” said Kleinman.
Lipa has spent thousands of hours visiting patients and has seen firsthand the benefits of music under many circumstances.
“Music is the greatest form of therapy,” said Lipa.
Yossie Kleinman, director of special projects at Americare, said that Lipa is well suited to the task at hand and that he has high hopes for MusiCare.
“Lipa is like a chameleon,” said Yossie Kleinman. “He can visit 50 different patients and will adapt instantaneously to each and every patient’s mindset and mood.”
