Straight From Antwerp: Moshe Dovid Stein & Shragi Kluger Team Up For A Special Selichot Duet, “Shuvu Elai”
If you are part of the Antwerp scene, you are likely already well-acquainted with the name Moshe Dovid Stein. He has recently established himself as one of the city’s standout voices, electrifying boutique events and kumzitz gatherings—both within the community and beyond—with his moving melodies, polished medleys, and an unmistakable, authentic Chassidic style.
Now, in the midst of the days of Selichot and mercy, Stein is releasing a new single titled “Shuvu Elai.” This piece gives voice to the age-old dialogue between the Almighty and the Congregation of Israel regarding who should be the first to reach out in repentance. It culminates in the Jewish people’s eternal plea: that the Holy One, Blessed be He, extend His hand to us, ensuring our certain return. The arrangement blends the nostalgic Vizhnitz melody for the words “Hashivenu” with a refreshing Yiddish twist on the well-known tune by R’ Shlomo Carlebach. For this performance, Stein is joined by his brother-in-law, the vocalist Shragi Kluger, in an emotionally charged duet that instantly evokes the atmosphere of the High Holy Days.
Enjoy the listening experience.
