In Memoriam upon the Shloshim of HaRav Yisroel Belsky Z”TL’s

As we mourn and reflect upon the greatness we were so fortunate to have had amongst us, we remember in particular R’ Belsky Z”TL’s great love, his avoda, for Shabbos kodesh, and his connection to zemiros Shabbos.

The following song Shimru Shabsosai was one of HaRav Yisroel Belsky Z”TL’s many compositions, which he sang every Shabbos Kodesh.

מִזִּיו בִּרְכוֹתַי, אֶל הַמְּנוּחָה כִּי בָאתֶם,
וּלְווּ עָלַי בָּנַי, וְעִדְנוּ מַעֲדָנַי, שַׁבָּת הַיּוֹם לַייָ.

לְעָמֵל קִרְאוּ דְרוֹר, וְנָתַתִּי אֶת בִּרְכָתִי,
אִשָּׁה אֶל אֲחוֹתָהּ לִצְרוֹר, לְגַלּוֹת עַל יוֹם שִׂמְחָתִי,
בִּגְדֵי שֵׁשׁ עִם שָׁנַי, וְהִתְבּוֹנְנוּ מִזְּקֵנַי, שַׁבָּת הַיּוֹם לַייָ.
