From Novhardok To Mezhibezh! The Malchut Choir In The Cycle of This Year From Both Sides of The Fence, With Zanvil Weinberger, R. Hillel Paley, Meir Adler, Pinchas Bichler, Chasidimlech & Benny Laufer!
The Chassidic ‘Chamol‘ or the one from Yeshiva? Wolfson’s ‘Ma Ashiv’ or Visznitz ‘Amar Abaye’ by Volozhin or ‘Abaye Virava’ by Ribnitz? In short, or Kneitsch?
For the first time, a medley full of contrast: an instructive and fascinating musical journey that merges the contrast that characterizes the two musical genres from both sides of the fence – the Chassidic and the Yeshiva-Lithuanian. From now on: From Novohardok to Mezhibuzh!
The person who conceived and composed this musical work is Pinchas Bichler, conductor of the Malchut Choir, who chose to perform it at the grand event of the charity organization Tovah U’Brachah, where some 1,500 charity collectors from all the holy communities and the Charedi spectrum gathered, bringing light and joy to Shabbat and the holiday to thousands of houses of Israel throughout the Holy Land. Therefore, the medley revolves around the Jewish year, presenting throughout the way the melodies that characterize the two genres in every holiday and festival in the Jewish calendar.
On the Chassidic side stands Meir Adler and on the Yeshivah side is Rabbi Hillel Paley, who sit side by side and with Chassidic fervor – a sharpener, and a Lithuanian geschmack – on the other hand, complement each other. In the middle stands the great singer Zanvil Weinberger, who juggles between styles and sets his own ‘tone’ for the work, accompanied by the extensive team of the ‘Malchut‘ choir and Yanki Levinger‘s ‘Chasidimlech‘ choir.
The arrangement, orchestration and conducting of the huge project is, as always, entrusted to Maestro Benny Laufer and his extended orchestra.
