Yuval Tayeb – “Am Echad”

AmEchad - YuvalTayeb

Singer Yuval Tayeb launches a new hit which will get everyone going – a
musical prayer for unity for the coming year. This latest hit Am Echad was
written by the leading writers piyyutim, composed by Adi Leon, lyrics by
Arlette Safadia, the unique arrangement is by Dudu Kuma.
Taib has been singing piyyutim since the age of eight. Even then his father
sensed that his considerable talent needed polishing and sent him to learn
voice production and classical violin. Along with his school lessons, the
youngster listened to the leading lights in Arabic music, such as Um Kaltoum,
Abdul Wahab, Abed Halim, Farid Al-Atrash and others. Since then he has
brought out a number of albums, sung duets with the leading singers in the
country and studied with top musicologists. Today, Tayeb is considered,
despite his youth, to be a walking encyclopaedia on everything in the realm of
Arabic music. An expert in Egyptian music, he takes calls from professionals
seeking his advice on the source of melodies and maqams. Yuval Tayeb
lectures in the history of poetry and piyyutim at various academic institutions,
among others at a “secret” course at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem
His previous single, his version of Halleluya, garnered much success and
was frequently played by the frum radio stations. Yuval believes that through
music it is possible to bring the various parts of Am Yisrael together. “Now on
the eve of Rosh Hashana 5771, all the Jewish People needs can be summed
up in two words – emunah and achdus. It’s hard to get the point across
because there’s no time. It’s lucky we have music” Says Tayeb.
The complete album is due to be released after the chagim.
