Singer and composer Menachem Shukron releases a new and exciting single called “Tefilot” — a song born from thinking about the hidden power of small prayers; those that are said out of habit, between steps, and sometimes with the feeling that no one is listening.

“This song was born when the melody on the guitar fell on me,” shares Menachem. “It speaks of the power of small, forgotten prayers that we sometimes underestimate, put aside and do not recognize their ability to change reality. As it is said in the prayer: ‘Zocher Kol Hanishkachos‘ — Hashem remembers for us precisely these small things that we tend to forget.”

Jewish history is full of private and personal prayers — from that mother who whispered quietly in Shiloh, through Chassidim who spent hours with intentions and stood before the Creator in complete abandonment, to the common man who rushes to his work and sends a brief request from the heart. Menachem, who grew up in the Chabad world and finds himself a bridge between deep tradition and contemporary musical language, echoes in the song the well-known words of the Rebbe Rashab: “There can be a short prayer full of intention, and there can be a long prayer with nothing in it.” This is the heart of the song — the understanding that it is precisely the small prayers, which a person “steps on their heels” and pays no attention to, that accumulate and shape the path of our lives.

“Tefilot” moves on the axis between brokenness and faith, and between fatigue and hope. The recurring chorus gives the listener a new lease of life — a reminder that even when it seems that prayer has been forgotten in the spirit, it continues to work and resonate. “There are those who see me, there are those who remember me” — simple words that touch the deepest chords.

The song was written in creative collaboration with Liad Chakak, a young and talented singer and songwriter from the Israeli genre, in a meeting that came through manager Ayalon Malchi. “We sat down to refine and hone, and from the dialogue between worlds a song was born that is the common property,” says Menachem. The warm and up-to-date musical production is credited to Idan Belinsky, who was able to combine deep emotion with accessible sound. The single is accompanied by a music video that provides a visual interpretation of the inner world described in the song.
