Chaim Israel In A New Medley: “Hashirim Shel Zohar”
Chaim Israel, perhaps the most prominent voice in Jewish-Mizrachi music today, releases a medley of hits from the songs of the late Zohar Argov. ‘Hashirim Shel Zohar‘ is the first medley in the series, bringing together past and present, and connecting the younger generation to the roots music that brought the Mediterranean singer to the forefront. The medley will be performed by Chaim for the first time during his winter concert tour in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.
Chaim Israel, who for many years has managed to connect different musical worlds and diverse audiences from all walks of Israeli society, takes the assets of Argov and gives them a modern musical interpretation. Songs like ‘Lihiyot Adam‘, ‘Sod Hamazalot‘, ‘Lishkat Avodah‘ and more, receive a refreshing performance in an innovative arrangement by David Bitan.
Chaim Israel shares: “Zohar Argov, z’l, was and remains the figure who influenced most of all Mizrachi music. For me, as someone who grew up on these songs, making them accessible to the younger generation is an exciting closing of a circle.”
