The Winning Song in The Chuppa & Jerusalem Song Contest: Amram Adar – “Yerushalayim Habenuya”

The last two weeks have been painful for all of the Jewish people, no matter your affiliation or background. It seems like the world is against us, and we are facing an enemy who is claiming rights to our land. Am Yisrael is united across the globe in a national war to keep our Holy Land.

This is the exact time that superstar singer Amram Adar releases a song titled Yerushalayim Habenuya. The song talks about Eretz Yisrael, the holy places, Mekomos Hakedoshim, and the Beis Hamikdash during the time right before the final redemption. We have to go through some pain and destruction before the ultimate geula.

The song, written by Idan Kannohan and Akiva Miofka , was chosen by a committee of judges and many listeners in a wedding and Jerusalem song composition competition, led by media personality Menachem Toker during the winter of 2008.

The original lyrics tell the story of the Holy City, the land of the ancestors, the place of the Beis Hamikdash during the eve of redemption. So, out of the pain and sorrow for the destruction, redemption emerges.
