“Nafshi” Sruly Werdyger & The Neranena Choir Sing Rav Yisrael Meir Friedberg
Here is a deep, moving composition full of nostalgia that was composed by Rav Yisrael Meir Friedberg, under the auspices of the Chaburah of Bnei Aliyah that are involved in learning the writings of the Arizal. In context, the source of these lyrics expresses the desire of Jews towards their Creator during the darkness of Golus when we wish for the “night” to be lit up like day. Also it is impossible to forget the connection between the composer and these holy words.
Some of the best Chassidic musicians worked hard and came together to put this beautiful song into reality. Sruly Werdyger sang the song, with the Neranena Choir doing the choral vocals. The composer’s son Pinchas Menachem added his own beautiful voice to the mix, and the keyboards, arrangement and musical production was all done by Shua Fried. Guitars were by Arik Shachar, and it was recorded by Shmuel Yonah in Ulpanei Matro.
