Introducing: David Schlusselberg – Mizmor L’Dovid

David Schlusselberg 27, is a teacher at the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. Besides a love for teaching Torah, David has always had a certain passion towards writing music. The songs on his debut album Mizmor L’Dovid, are a unique flavor of Jewish music. I don’t think there is one band or artist whose sound is completely represented on this album. One would have to describe the sound as acoustic rock or alternative, but there are various tracks that may not fit that description. Schlusselberg’s music is probably a combination of Blue Fringe, Eitan Katz, Omek Hadavar and Moshav band. The lyrics of each song were placed with each music with tremendous siyatah d’shmaya (divine assistance) and I think bring out the lyrics in the best way they can be expressed.

Each of these songs on the album were written anywhere from 9-4 years ago. David has always wanted to record an album, but time and money have been a stumbling block for him. With friends and musicians encouraging him over the years to record, he finally realized if he doesn’t do it now he would never do it. Besides writing the songs on this album David has also played guitar, piano, violin and cello on the CD. David hope’s you enjoy the songs, as they are a real expression of his neshama.
