Ana B’Cho’ach – Aharon Segal in a new, invigorating and exciting single

Fourteen years ago, the MFG duo was one of the most successful trance music ensembles in Israel. At the time, Aharon Segal, a member of the ensemble, never imagined that their initials, which stood for “Message from God”, would become a way of life for him. Segal, 40, resident of Rishon L’Tzion, married with five children, became a Ba’al Tshuva about ten years ago. Before that he travelled all over the world as part of the MFG duo for performances and events.
When he began the process of becoming a Ba’al Tshuva, Segal found himself attracted to the Breslev Hassidism, especially to Rabbi Shalom Arush. For the past few years he has been arranging the Rabbi’s shiurim on CDs, sometimes even adding a song or a nigun to his liking as an opening track. Lately, Segal decided to return to making music. He issued the album “Ohr HaOrot” (The Light of Lights), which is made up of pieces from Rebbe Nachman’s books, prayers, Tehillim and more. The writing and recording were done at home and at the end, the violinist
Gadi Pugtash from “Beit HaKedusha” joined in the music. The album is not a trance album, but rather combines different music styles, among them also Pop and Rock.
The album is suitable for the religious community and also for Ba’alei Tshuva who are still looking for the music they loved – but with “clean” lyrics and “kosher” musicians. The album has quite a few songs that even one who is not religious can feel a connection to and enjoy. Large parts of the album Segal wrote while in seclusion (Hisbodedus), and altogether he concludes that “This album is from Hashem, from the first lyric to the last note”.
“Ana B’Cho’ach” – the well-known psalm attributed to Rabbi Nechunya ben HaKana, is a new single Aharon Segal is releasing towards his second album, in a new invigorating and exciting melody. The tune was playing in his head for about a week or two on the way to shul. Shortly before this past Rosh HaShana, Segal got to turn it in a short time into a beautiful song and the wonderful result is presented here before you.
