Singer and composer Yoni Z releases a new high-energy anthem built around an irresistible spelling-hook chorus that makes the Hebrew word for redemption unforgettable. Musical production by Yoni and Yoel Weiss.
Sometimes the right idea arrives at exactly the right moment. Yoni Z is releasing “G.E.U.L.A.” just in time for summer – a song that wasn’t supposed to be born now, but simply couldn’t wait.
The track came together almost by accident. While working in the studio on another single, Yoni started experimenting with the concept and within half an hour knew he had to open his summer with it. What began as a spark became, in just one week, one of the most exciting songs he has ever created.
Rooted in the Lubavitcher Rebbe’s timeless teaching – that we can bring Moshiach because even if we are small, we stand on the shoulders of giants – “G.E.U.L.A.” explores redemption as a multi-layered concept: not only the ultimate Geula of the Jewish people, but the personal Geula each person carries in their heart. Those who listen collectively will hear a song about national redemption; those who listen from the heart will find their own personal story within it. Some pray for a shidduch, some await the blessing of children, some seek their parnassah.
“This is also what happened to me over the last 18 months,” Yoni shares. “I went from being single to being married with a baby girl, thank God, just a few weeks ago. My personal geula is here too, inside this song.”
The production was created in collaboration with Yoel Weiss, the gifted producer who is rapidly rising to the top of the industry. “Yoel is a pop music genius,” says Yoni, “and we have many more songs together on the way.”
The song also features Ezzi, a rapper from LA, whose contribution created a special moment: “We wanted to create a rap moment that didn’t sound treif, so to speak – something more optimistic and bright. Ezzi brought exactly the color we were looking for.”
“G.E.U.L.A.” is the first single Yoni is releasing this summer, with a lot more music expected in the months ahead.
