Composer Rabbi Yaakov Talmud was for many years the “Composer of the Yard” of the chassidic dynasties, and composed over 1,000 different melodies, which he composed mainly twice a year, before Shavuot and before the terrible days for regular texts. Throughout the year, the tunes were adapted to other texts from the prayer and Shabbos zemiros.

This tune, of the “Wells” melody originally composed by Rabbi Yaakov on the Piyyut of the “Ki Anu Amecha“, was his last tune, sung in on Yom Kippur in 1963, nine days before his death. After years, during a musical project to commemorate Rabbi Yaakov’s nigunim, the melody was performed by Rabbi David Werdyger, to the lyrics of Shabbos zemer “Menucha VeSimcha“.
