Singers Natanel Aboksis and Daniel Yativ launch the new single “Beit Midrash,” a personal and moving creation born from moments of deep contemplation of the routine of a Torah scholar’s life, which combines study, family, kindness, and coping with life’s challenges.
“Beit Midrash” describes a seemingly routine day: the study routines, moral discussions, raising children, and returning to the benches of the Beit Midrash—but it is precisely from these simple moments that the great power of a life connected to the Torah is revealed.
Through the lyrics and the melody, the two seek to remind us of the great privilege given to every Jew to draw closer to Hashem, and the feeling that the Torah is not only a source of knowledge, but also a source of life, joy, and protection.
The song was written from a moment of inspiration that Natanel experienced during his studies in the kollel. While observing the spiritual and physical activities, combined with family life, friends and life’s experiences, a simple and profound understanding burst forth from him: “I have a privilege that makes me want to run.” At that moment, he felt the longing to run to Hashem, like a son who returns to his father time and time again. However, in this feeling, the realization that the father is not just waiting – he is already going out to meet his son, embracing him and bringing him closer with the great privilege that was given to him to learn His Torah.
In the joint performance of Natanel Aboksis and Daniel Yativ, “Beit Midrash” receives a warm and moving musical envelope, connecting a message of faith, simplicity and longing for the closeness of Hashem, with a sweeping melody that remains in the heart long after listening.
