Paytan and singer Meir Shitrit releases a moving new single, Le’ehov Otcha Mechadash. It is a deeply personal, touching song that explores moments when a person drifts away, grappling with themselves and the path they have traveled, while seeking to return to the spiritual place from which they came.
Through honest and vulnerable lyrics, the song brings feelings of longing, pain, searching, and inner awakening to the forefront. From this sense of distance emerges a simple yet powerful plea: to draw close again, to raise one’s hands, to cast off masks, and to rediscover the path to faith.
The song opens with a profound sense of longing:
“The whole world means nothing to me when You are far away”
It continues on an inner journey of stumbling, struggle, and repentance, culminating in the moment the heart cries out once more to the Father.
Meir Shitrit wrote the lyrics, set to a melody by Salah Al-Kurdi. The track features rich, precise musical production by Dedi Sa’adi—blending keyboards, programming, string arrangements, guitars, violins, and percussion—to create a powerful musical backdrop that gives the lyrics the prominence they deserve. Meir Shitrit is known as a paytan (liturgical singer) and vocalist with a unique style that blends the world of piyut (Jewish liturgical poetry) and Jewish music with contemporary musical creativity. Alongside his work in Israel, Shitrit performs for Jewish communities worldwide, bringing the world of piyut and tradition to audiences both at home and abroad.
“Le’ehov Otcha Mehadash” is a song that seeks to touch the hearts of anyone who has ever experienced estrangement, longing, or the search for a way back. It is a song that reminds us that even after a fall or a period of distance, it is always possible to pause, lift one’s head, and choose the path of faith once more.
